A No. Altech Netstar offers free recovery within SA and in Nambia, Botswana, Zambia and Swaziland. If recovered outside of SA, a vehicle repatriation fee may be payable.
Q Does Altech Netstar have support of the SAPS?
A Yes. The SAPS and Altech Netstar have a close working relationship. When a vehicle is being recovered Altech Netstar may well communicate directly with the SAPS who are often in a position to assist.
Q Do insurance companies endorse Altech Netstar?
A Yes. All insurance companies in SA recognize and accept Altech Netstar. We also have alliances with a number of insurance underwriters, and market our products through over 2,000 insurance brokers around the country. In many cases, insurance premium discounts may be offered for fitting a Altech Netstar.
Q Does Altech Netstar function if my battery is disconnected?
A Yes. A back-up battery is installed in the vehicle. This battery has a lifespan of approximately two years and should be replaced every two years.
Q What happens when I sell my vehicle?
A 1. You can sell the unit with the vehicle and inform Altech Netstar of the new owner's details. One calendar month's written notice is required. Arrangements will then be made with the new owner to open an account.
2. Alternatively, you can arrange with your nearest Altech Netstar Fitment Centre to have the unit de-installed from your old vehicle and reinstalled in your new vehicle at a reasonable cost.

Q How does one maintain the Altech Netstar unit?
A Subscribers are advised to take advantage of the two free tests offered each year, and to ensure that the back-up battery in the unit is replaced every two years. Also, should your vehicle be involved in a collision and requires panel-beating, or has had a major service or engine repairs, we recommend a test of the Altech Netstar unit just to be sure that it is still working correctly.
Q How do I get an insurance rebate with Altech Netstar?
A We recommend that you speak to your insurance company before having the vehicle fitted with a Altech Netstar system, so you can be sure of the discount you will receive. If you are fitting Altech Netstar subsequent to having taken out a policy, please contact your insurer accordingly and, depending on the insurance company, your premium should be reduced once they are in receipt of the fitment certificate.
Q Can I test the Altech Netstar unit?
A Yes. Your Altech Netstar unit will be tested at the time of installation. Thereafter, you can arrange to have your unit tested twice yearly, free of charge. The test takes no longer than a few minutes and can be arranged with the Altech Netstar Control Centre - Call (011) 207-5114. Regular fleet testing can be arranged at a nominal fee per unit per test.
